It only shows for a fraction of a second, but it made my day!

Did you hear about the one thousand and ten dollars we raised?
We donated it to a Health Foundation that helps out newborn babes.
You see, the foundation runs a Mother’s Milk Bank.
For all the work they do for kids, they deserve a giant thank.
So many babies face illness or are premature, needing a mother’s milk to thrive.
Thankfully, selfless mothers willing to donate to the bank so often arrive.
Abigail, Adam and Adeline, thank you for your purchase.
We hope you enjoy your felt world map, Andreas.
Bronx and Boston bought theirs together, and, wow, they sound tough.
Bradbury, for your purchase, we just can’t thank you enough.
We sold items to Chelsea, Charlaine and Christine.
And, of course, we can’t forget the one-and-only Dominique.
Thanks to everyone who shopped in their own special way.
Here’s looking at you, Emma, Ethan and Faye.
Thank you so much, Hayley, Jacky, Karyn and Lorena.
Can you believe we have customers from Salt Lake City to Valencia?
We really love your style, especially you Maria.
Before we forget, same to you Natalya, Oliver and Pia.
We can hardly believe the generous hearts of Rita and Sukee.
You’re definitely the best, Tracy, Vanessa and Whitney.
Yaro and Zsuzsanna, you made such a difference for children.
And to any buyer we didn’t mention:
Written by my friend Jaime, thanks man!
And cuteness sticks to these kids!
And command strips come off your wall easily without damage (they’re included!)
And I can’t get over how cute these kids are! Head on over to @modernfarmhousefamily to check out this adorable family.
But seriously!! How cute are these kids. And how talented is the photographer!! In love.
First, have a conversation with your neighbors who are having a baby girl!! Maybe one like this:
Me: Have you chosen a name?
Him (excited!): Yeah! Lyra!
Me: Is there meaning in it?
Him: Yes. We’re both into music. In Latin, a Lyra is like a harp. My wife is into astronomy too, and Lyra is a really cool constellation.
My brain: This. Needs. To. Be. A. Blanket.
First, paint some outer space textures.
Then pull out your tombows and do some lettering. Do a lot and write “nope” next to the bad ones.
Next, pull it all into Adobe CC to isolate your shapes, colorize them and create a repeating pattern. Save as jpg.
Headto spoonflower.com to order the fabric. Sew the edges, run through the wash and bam.
You guys! This dinosaur wall was my 1,500th sale!! 1,500 of you have bought from my shop. We’ve helped feed lots of babies with that $. I love you all!
My sister talked me into a craft fair last week. I compiled a list of all the felt walls for the show, and it was rewarding to see how years of work have led to so many fun felt walls. I keep thinking my babies will get sick of them, but they haven’t yet! Every day, my 4-year-old asks ‘what kind of felt wall haven’t we made yet?’ Follow us on FB or insta see what we create next.
The youtube vortex sucked me in, and I ended up watching this video:
And, like always, I thought, “I NEED to try this!” So I did. First attempt = disaster. But I learned SO much. Only use a little bit of paint in the resin. Background colors can show up. Extremely level/flat is insanely important in the drying process. Work fast. If the first (or second or third) layer looks terrible, you can pour additional resin coats on top.
I decided to experiment and combine paper maché with resin. Sometimes the stars align, and mixed media projects come together nicely. This was one of those times!
I ended up with a 3d topographical map of Antelope Island in Utah. I shipped it off to my pops for father’s day. He recognized Frary Peak right away. 🙂
And now I can add 3d land-form sculptures to my resume. Which island should I do next?

As anyone who has potty trained knows, public restrooms are worse than the political bickering in my facebook feed right now. But somehow, in the LAX airport restroom, my 3-year-old had me (and everyone else in the bathroom) in tears laughing.
It happened here:
It went like this: Continue reading “Airport Bathroom + 3-Year-Old. How Things Usually Go.”
But I’m gonna leave this here anyway. You know, just in case there is someone out there who does.

Nope! Never, ever, ever since their creation has a felt bird ever pooped on a human. Isn’t that great? That makes felt walls a perfect birthday or Christmas gift for your kids! They can play for hours and use their imagination to create all sorts of games and stories!
There is NO mess. Since felt sticks to felt (and the birds aren’t dropping surprises on your head), all you have to do is put everything away when you’re done until you’re ready to play again.
If you aren’t interested in an animal-filled forest, but still want an awesome felt board, there are more felt walls for you to choose from ranging from scary Monster Felt Walls to World Maps, which are the perfect, hands-on learning activity for kids and geographically challenged adults.
As if you needed another reason to get a felt board for the special grandkid/niece/nephew/best friend’s kid in your life, guess what? Every time you buy something from EmIsCrafty a portion of the proceeds go toward helping real-life babies in the NICU!
You guys! Sue is one of the cutest people I know, and she is making one of the cutest (and actually useful) products ever. Her company is called “Love, Molly Sue,” and she makes a molly dolly with a matching dress for your baby. She is on etsy, facebook and insta. This pear combo is my fav, look how freaking adorable!
She’s giving us a molly dolly & dress combo to giveaway to one of you (details below and on facebook)! We asked her a few questions so you can get to know her a bit before you enter. Meet Sue, crafty owner of “Love, Molly Sue”
Well if you know my family my mom and sisters are queen of DIY. I grew up with home made everything and we were always starting or in the middle of some project or another, so thanks to them I learned the art of starting projects! Now if I could just finish more….
Haha the LMS at our house would probably be crying all the time, they are constantly getting sucked on, dropped, thrown, etc. but hopefully they would be as in love with their little mamas as they are with them. I love seeing my Molly sneaking hugs and kisses from her dolly.
Well before LMS came to be, I had this fantastically trendy friend I was making a baby shower gift for and her hair was always in a top knot, so I guess she was my inspiration. I LOVE to make the Dolly’s similar to their little mamas and since I didn’t know this little mama yet I modeled it after my friend.
Umm am I adulting?? Ha, I keep asking myself when I grow up as big as my mom and dad will I be an adult yet? But really, some days I own adulting, and some days (like yesterday) me and my Molly just lay on the ground and cry because adulting is too much.
Oh heavens sewing machine! I think if I could I would sew everything, wood, plastic, paper, grass.. Glue guns are so messy and I always leave with a burn or ten.
I would adopt 100 pretty babies. That has been a dream of mine ever since I found out my next door neighbor was adopted 20 years ago, and I honestly have wanted to leave my mark on the world through adoption. It wouldn’t leave me with much free time, but I could just cry thinking of all the babies I could love that don’t get the chance other wise.
Well currently the prospect of going back to work haunts me into working as hard as I can! But really, since having my Molly girl it has been such a struggle to find cute affordable clothing and toys, so we just started making them and wanted to share the love!
Isn’t she adorable?
Two steps to enter:
Winner receives a molly dolly dress combo. Shipping free to USA. Winner announced Tuesday, Sept. 6. Good luck!
Dear Tacky Gold Dated Frame,
You’ve been repurposed. Which is much better than replaced. Replaced means you’re making friends with the diapers and watermelon rinds in the dumpster. Repurposed means you get to move from random stranger’s house to ours and make friends with the snot that’s wiped on the walls, and the hanging plant that has somehow managed to stay a little bit green. All it took to repurpose you was:
Thank you for being a solid foundation, and beautiful pattern, and for being cheap. 🙂 I really like how you turned out! I’m so excited to rotate pics of my cute family through you! And since I didn’t buy this, it’s like I saved $60 🙂 You’re amazing!
Love, Em.
The nurse asked if she could grab my boob to get some breast milk out. Of course she could, I had a 3-hour old baby, and I would do anything for her. Plus, my body was making food for her, how freaking amazing would it be to actually see the food!? It was my second baby, and I thought I knew everything to know about breast feeding. But the nurse grabbed a plastic spoon from lunch, squeezed some thick yellow colostrum out, then spoon-fed my 3-hour old! It was magical!

EVERY april fools day, my mom gets me. It’s always funny (except when it involves food!!). Like this morning, when she texted to say her car wouldn’t start and she needed a ride. Insert hashtag of choice. #sucker #gullible #everystinkingyear.

Granny says her bones are made of concrete, because she fell down 7 cement stairs, and escaped with a hematoma and some bruises. She’s the toughest lady I know!! She always has a smile and warm hug for me and my babies. And since it’s not every day your granny turns 79, we had a big party for her. I decided to make a cheesecake with candied macademias and home-made caramel. YUM!
It needed a beautiful topper, but I didn’t want to spend $40 on etsy for a custom one. Since I have a silhouette cameo personal cutter, I decided to make one out of a cereal box. First, I made a sketch:
Then I pulled it into Illustrator to trace it. Next I imported the svg file into the silhouette studio software, and sent it to the cutter, with the blade set at 8, and speed at 1.
Next, I squished some straws onto the bottom pieces for stability, and spray painted the pieces. Added some glitter, and a polyurethane coating, and boo-yah. Custom, beautiful, fancy cake-topper from a cereal box.
Then, cheesecake! Because … cheesecake!
Oh my gosh, look how cute she is! I want to be just like her when I’m 79!!
I don’t know why, but it’s WAYY more fun to say ‘gracias’ for all the things than ‘thanks’ for all the things. See:
So in favor of screaming ‘Gracias’ and having more parties with pinatas, here are my favorite ‘Gracias’ thank you cards on etsy:
It’s leap year guys!! It only happens once every 4 years! Are you celebrating? Are you having a party? Are you sending out greeting cards? I know what you’re thinking. Who sends greeting cards? And for leap year, at that. Here are 5 reasons you should!
So what kind of card do you get for leap year? Here’s a BreastCardEver that works for birthdays, Christmas, graduation, Valentine’s day, Leap Day, and more. In fact, it works for EVERY holiday. But it may not be appropriate for MIL. Recipient should probably, maybe have some sort of sense of humor.
Happy Leap Year!
It’s penguin awareness week! Well, at least at the Living Planet Aquarium! To celebrate, we made an ocean with … you guessed it – FELT! These felt walls are such fun toys for my kids. It’s great entertainment for both of us, and easy for me because there’s minimal mess!! Much better than the day I attempted a mess-free activity. 🙂
We ended up with over 40 pieces! Ocean life, sea shells, eyes and bubbles. Lots of bubbles. Not sure what it is about toddlers and bubbles. Blowing bubbles might account for over 50% of the job description of mom. Turns out felt bubbles are almost as cool.
My oldest is starting to tell stories with all the sea life. Some days the jellyfish likes the shark, others not so much. It’s magical.
So, how does this magic all come together? The felt scenes stick to the wall with a few command strips (included). The easy-to-move felt pieces stick right to the felt wall. The pieces are so easy for toddlers to play with, and it’s amazing to see them use their crazy wild imaginations. I love watching my babies re-arrange their underwater world over and over.
Promo code valid through Feb 29, 2016.
Some days I make time to do fun things with my babies. Today was one of those days.
We made monsters!! And they’re super versatile. Did you know that felt sticks to felt! And it’s the perfect hold for toddlers to move all the legs and arms and eyes around to build wonderful creations! I LOVE watching my babies and their imaginations. We’ve come up with some pretty fun guys.
