What’s the best way to get your Pinterest views up to the hundreds of thousands? Millions? There are a few ways. But the only 2 important steps are:

1. Make a product.
2. Pin it.

That’s it. You’re done. You’re going to be a millionaire in no time. Okay, okay, chances are, if you’re reading this, you’ve already done those 2 steps, and you’re not quite a millionaire. But you’ve done what most won’t. I offer a sincere ‘congratulations’ on doing the creative work. Sometimes that’s the hardest step! Now it’s just a matter of putting in some time. And it’s gonna be boring. But it could lead to 180,000 views, and hopefully a ton of purchases.

There are MANY ways to get this many views. You can do any, or all, of these. Please add your own too! I’d love to hear how YOU have increased your interweb views. Below are the things I did.

Offer cupcakes.

Or coffee. Or a hand-written thank you card. Or …

Many of my facebook posts start with ‘I’ll buy you a cupcake if you …‘ In this case, it was ‘if you pin my map to one of your boards.’ I put these posts up on my personal facebook page, my business facebook page, and also in appropriate facebook groups (etsy promotion groups, buy/sell groups, mama groups, etc). I’ve yet to have someone take me up on the offer, but I’m willing! There are always helpers out there, and I love them so much! I have the best friends and family in the world, they are crazy supportive.

The more you post, the more people will pin. The more people pin, the more exposure you get. The more exposure you get, the more purchases, and the more pins. It just takes time.

Use a Nice Pic.

I’m biased, this is a pic of my babe, so of course it’s a quality image! But I did pull out my nice camera, got the lighting just right, did her hair, cleaned up the floor (just the part that was going to be in the picture of course), took about 70 shots, then photoshopped the imperfections out of the wall.

Make Sure your Pin Directs Users to the Right Place.

My pin goes to my blog post, which directs to my etsy listing. You can make sure it goes where you want by pinning it right from your listing or blog. And speaking of blogs …

Reach out to bloggers.

Since mine is a Montessori product, I reached out to Montessori bloggers (about 20-30 over 2 years), and offered to send them a free sample to review, or a discount code for their readers. Only a few took me up, but they were quality blogs with TONS of followers.

Offer discounts to pinners.

This won’t get pins from your original pin, so you won’t be able to track, but they’ll sure bring you more traffic! This is the semi-permanent announcement in my shop:

Join Collaborative Pinterest Boards.

Search facebook for ‘pinterest group boards.’ Join the boards that are relevant to your product. Re-pin your original pin into their boards. Most will let you do this every couple of weeks.

Interact on Instagram.

This is fun, but takes time too. Go find people that are into what you’re into, and find places where it makes sense to introduce your product. Be sincere. Follow people who will enjoy your product. And by follow, I mean look at their posts,  their images, leave nice comments about what you like and why they inspire you. It takes time, but being nice pays off in the long run.


Get lucky.

And by ‘lucky’ I mean, after you’ve made an amazing product, then put in hours and hours, and days and days of work, sometimes feeling like it’s in vain and futile, then people are going to find you, and blog about your product for FREE, without you having to do anything!
